I%26#39;m going to Boston and New England via JFK in the middle of July. I have read that it gets a little hot at this time of year, how hot does it actually get and is it very humid? (just so I can work out what kind of clothes to bring with me)
Trip to Boston and New England in July
Yes, Boston and New England in general can get hot in July. Highs in the 90%26#39;s (F) can and do occur from time time to time. There is usually at least 1 week during the summer where you can get 5 - 90 degree days in a row. Over all, 80 degree days are more common. Boston itself can have a sea breeze off the water to cool things a bit. Depends on which way the wind blows each day!
Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, western Massachusetts and northwest Connecticut tend to have slightly cooler temps. Highs in the 70%26#39;s and 80%26#39;s are more common.
Over all, New England tends to be somewhat humid during July and August.
On the flip side, you never know when a cool period will come and you can have 70 and 60 degree days, with even cooler nights!
Have a fun holiday!

Trip to Boston and New England in July
Last year it was actually cool in July and Aug, by cool I mean the 80%26#39;s. I would assume it will be hot and humid and plan for that. At most you will need a light slicker or jacket for at night or the rain. A pair of long pants for nights would be helpful. Shorts and T%26#39;s for touring.
Have a great visit!
It%26#39;s sticky hot that time of year, unless our New England weird weather kicks in and something bizarre happens. Typically, though, it%26#39;s swealteringly hot and humid. You should figure on shorts and t%26#39;s with light pants for evenings/nice restaurants. (Despite the heat, dress codes are still relatively formal in a lot of places, depending on what you like. In pubs and informal restaurants, anything goes but ';nice'; restaurants typically involve pants.) If you plan on going to the Cape, on a boat ride, or up into the mountains, bring a sweater for chlly breezes. Umbrellas are helpful too, for mid-summer thunderstorms.
Sorry, but it%26#39;s never ';typically'; hot and humid. Sometimes it IS hot and humid and in the 90 degree range. Other times it%26#39;s pleasant and in the 70%26#39;s. Could be either or anywhere in between. If you are here for any appreciable length of time in summer, you are likely to encounter ALL of these at one time or another. The good thing is that it doesn%26#39;t last. The expression here is ';If you don%26#39;t like the weather, wait a minute'; - and it does apply. So enjoy what you get,. It could always be worse!! How%26#39;s that for a motto??

Sorry...this site says its ';generally'; humid in July. Not ';typically';
:-)
Coco,
Guess I was reacting to the ';sweltering and humid';. If I heard it was like that, either typically or whatever, I probably wound decide to go elsewhere:%26gt;)
