Cambridge to Newport

What is the best way to drive from Cambridge, MA to Newport, RI. I would like to avoid as much traffic and as many tolls as possible.

Cambridge to Newport

Take 93 South to RT.24 South

Rt 24 South eventually becomes Route 114 in RI.

Follow that all the way into Newport. There will be no tolls. Depending on the time of day / week, you might hit some Boston Traffic on 93 South or some local traffic on Rt. 114 in Middletown.

Cambridge to Newport

How about no tolls?? Depending on where you are in Cambridge, cross the Charles River to the Boston side and Storrow Drive going East. Then take 93 South in Boston, then to 95 South into Rhode Island. In Providence, take 195 East shortly to 114 South and Newport.

Don%26#39;t take 95 South towards Providence. Take Route 24 South....it%26#39;s much faster.
