I will be flying into Logan on 6/30/2007 and heading to Hyannis to catch the ferry. In the past I have taken the shuttle, But this year I have rented a car. Will traffic be bad on a Sat? We will have plenty of time is 3A a scenic drive and how long should it take? Or should I stick to 3. Any advice welcomed.
Driving from Logan to the Cape???
Allow 2+ hours to get to Hyannis directly via 3, although you should be able to do it in less time. Traffic will be heavy on Saturday but delays depend upon the time of day. Morning is probably the worst time. I don%26#39;t know about 3A at the southern end, but the northern part is more suburban than scenic. Taking 3A would be considerably longer. I would stick with 3 unless someone else can suggest a good spot to cut over to 3A for a part of the trip. A better scenic drive would be 6A from the Sagamore Bridge (exit 1C) to Willow St., then Willow to Hyannis.
Driving from Logan to the Cape???
The Saturday of 4th of July weekend, you%26#39;ll have PLENTY of traffic to keep you company. Most Cape rentals run Saturday to Saturday and people will be heading to the Cape in droves.
Are you planning to take the car on the ferry?
No, just going to drive from Logan to Hyannis to avoid riding the bus. It was only $39 (taxes included) for a midsize dropping it of @ Hyannis airport.
Factor in the time it will take to pick up the car and then drop it off and then the hassle of the drive on a holiday weekend and the bus looks pretty good to me. Then you have to get from the airport in Hyannis to the ferry.
Also, make sure you ask about drop-off charges. Sometimes they can exceed the total rental cost.
