Limited time...What to do?

We are college touring with our daughter and will be arriving in the Boston area June 27 in the late afternoon. We are staying in Braintree and taking the red line into Boston for dinner and looking around. The next day we have a tour of Harvard from 10-12 with not much time to hang around after due a Niagara Falls drive that same day.

What are the best things to see and do? My SIL suggested Faneuil Hall but not much else. My husband wants a good seafood dinner. Suggestions?

Thanks

Limited time...What to do?

Well, with not much time at all, I%26#39;d suggest that you just take a walk around the North End and the Quincy Market area, and have dinner outdoors at the Salty Dog at Quincy Market, for your husband%26#39;s seafood fix. If the weather isn%26#39;t great, you can eat indoors there too.

Or, you could go to the Chart House on the waterfront, which isn%26#39;t bad.

Limited time...What to do?

I second walking around the North End which is close to Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall. For a great seafood experience, try Neptune on Salem Street in the North End. It gets rave revues.

I would recommend the Legal Seafood鈥檚 by the Aquarium. It is walking distance from the North End. McCormick and Schmick%26#39;s in Faneuil Hall is also a good seafood place with outdoor seating. Save room for dessert in the North End after dinner no matter where you eat. I recommend Modern Pastry on Hanover Street (the main drag of the North End) but you could start quite a debate among Bostonians regarding the best bakery in the North End.

If you have time after the Harvard tour before getting on the road I would suggest a Duck Tour. They are about 90 minutes long and cover a lot of ground, giving out-of-towners an entertaining history lesson. But tickets are kind of hard to come by for specific times, and you would have to come back into the city from Cambridge to take the tour, so it might not work out for you.

Thanks for the suggestions.

We have a McCormick %26amp; Schmick%26#39;s here in Minneapolis and a Chart House. More interested in places with local flavor and atmosphere.

We will find seafood at Faneuil Hall (the Salty Dog?) and walk around the waterfront and Beacon hill. Did a Ducks tour in WI and not really interested in repeating it.

Thanks again

Well, one other seafood suggestion would be the Union Oyster House. It%26#39;s the oldest operating restaurant in the USA, and certainly nothing you will see in MN.

I work nearby and have always enjoyed my meals there. However, there seem to be mixed feelings here about it. If you are nervous about that, just go in, sit at the raw bar, have some Oysters and a beer, and then go elsewhere.
