HELP! Hotel advice in Boston

We%26#39;re planning a trip and will be spending two days in Boston. Need advice as to where to stay that is convenient to the sights as well as reasonably priced and free parking if this is at all possible. If not, what suburb would be best to stay at, hotel, free parking, on the transit system line. This is our first time to Boston. Really could you the advice. Also, is the duck tour worth it OR is the trolley tour better.

HELP! Hotel advice in Boston

Since you%26#39;re from Minnesota, I%26#39;m presuming you are thinking about renting a car here. Well, don%26#39;t. A car in the city is both expensive and not helpful. And there are no hotels that offer free parking in the downtown area. So this could broaden your choices, not worrying about parking. Is that possible or are you driving from Minnesota?? That would be quite a drive, by the way....

We%26#39;re renting a car. Is Cambridge too far to stay- Hawthorn Suites? Is it easy to access the transit from there or are we way out of the loop staying too far our? Any recommendations where to stay?

If you%26#39;re only here for 2 days, you absolutely DO NOT need to rent a car. Cambridge is just across the river from Boston and very, very easily accessible by the T train system. Cambridge has a lot to offer, tourist wise, itself.

I prefer the Duck Tour to the Trolley Tour. The Duck Tour is more fun, and takes you on a more interesting tour in my opinion.

Hi,

Unless there%26#39;s something you haven%26#39;t told us, it doesn%26#39;t make much sense to stay outside of the city, just so you can have free parking for a car that you won%26#39;t be using.

However, you can check out the Hampton Inn on O%26#39;Brien Hwy in Cambridge, which is next to the Lechmere Green Line station and has free parking. That%26#39;s probably as close as you will get, and still get the free parking.

Boston is a beautiful walking city.

Please do not rent a car unless you%26#39;re driving it to Boston, especially if you do not have experience with east coast cities. Boston is HORRENDOUS for driving. It%26#39;s a maze of 1-way streets, strange signage, pedestrians and bikes popping up everywhere, nonexistent parking...I lived there for the first 27 years of my life and I took the subway/buses everywhere. Everybody takes public transit (the T) - students, tourists, businessmen, doctors, you name it. It%26#39;s a great way to see what the city%26#39;s really like, and the T will take you right to almost all of the attractions in the city.

I would go thru priceline for a hotel in the copley area. Priceline shows a little map of the areas you could bid on. Second choice to bid would be the waterfront but there is a chance of getting a hotel a little of the beaten path but would still be ok. If you go for a 4 star hotel you should get something nice at a very reasonable price. (I recently bid on this area for August and received Marriott Copley for $89 nt) You could check out bookingbuddy.com and they give the names of the hotels and the star ratings that have recent offers and the $$ amt. I would recommend staying on the Boston side of the Charles River instead of the Cambridge side. If you stay in a hotel in the copley area, you can walk to everywhere in relative safety (I%26#39;m not saying you cant walk around in Cambridge it%26#39;s just further away from the signts of Boston).

Like the others, do not bother with a car rental. I shudder at the thought of driving in Boston and have done it for many years. Use the $$ for a taxi if you need one.
