i am headed to ptwn for the 2nd year on july 4th with friends. last year we drove up for the day and fireworks and then had to drive back to chatham. we are hoping to get a hotel for the night this year to avoid driving..we want to be able to go out and drink!
anoyone have ideas for a decent place to crash for a night?? don%26#39;t need anything special as long as it is clean and not too expensive. we are all 26 - 28.
thank you
p-twn place to crash on 7/4
You`ll find that Provincetown accomodations generally require a 4/5 night minimum stay for July 4, so finding a one night option could be extremely challenging. A good option could be to call the Provincetown Chamber of Commerce (ptownchamber.com) on July 3, or the morning of July 4. Innkeepers call in any last minute shorter term options they may have. Also just drive around and look for any possible vacancy signs posted on the 4th. I`ve found that The Cape Colony Inn (capecolonyinn.com) on Bradford Street has been more lenient about minimum night last minute bookings. They have spacious, air conditioned rooms and free parking. Anything decent won`t be cheap at this time, however.
p-twn place to crash on 7/4
Someone jumped on this board last year asking for and also sharing info on hostels in P-town. Evidently there%26#39;s more than one. Don%26#39;t know if you want to go this route but, for one night perhaps that will work for you.
I just read a rather bad review of the Outermost hostel (508-487-4378) at 28 Winslow, P-town ....not modern, bath in need of updating, 30 beds in 5 small cabins but around $30. for the night.
There is a better review for Hostelling International, Truro (508-349-3889). About $30. each for the night and seems to be available for July 4th. www.hiusa.org. 888-901-2085.
Now you%26#39;ll decide if you REALLY want a room or indeed just a place to crash right?
thanks for the replys. definately want to go the hotel route. since it is 4 of us, it doesn%26#39;t matter if it is up to $200. we donj%26#39;t mind paying our share, just can%26#39;t really do more than $50 a piece. that does suck though about min. stay!
Another option to look at is the Provincetown Business Guild web site at www.ptown.org. Guesthouses that have last minute availability post their listings there. Again, you may have a problem with minimum night stays, but if you check it on July 2nd or 3rd you may find a guesthouse who has a room that they will rent for one night only on July 4th.
Listings are for the upcoming week.
FYI, the aforementioned Cape Colony Inn rates for a room with 2 double beds/4 adults is $189 in July. This is one of the few places that doesn`t jack up their prices for the 4th, so it could be worthwhile to be somewhat persistant in checking on this property closer to your date of arrival. There aren`t a whole lot of rooms in Ptown that will accomodate 4, and especially for under $200 during a holiday period or any other time in the summer for that matter. The Gifford House (giffordhouse.com) has rooms with 2 double beds for $187 (for 2) at that time. It caters to a primarily gay clientele, but all are made to feel welcome. It`s also in a terrific central location that`s close to everything in town. The staff is very nice and helpful. Once again, however, the only options would probably be last minute.
