My family of 4 (2 adults, kids ages 12 and 17) is visiting Boston mid-June for 6 nights. Our kids have never been to Boston and we want to show them the sights, so want a ';good'; location. We will not have a car. I have three sets of reservations and can%26#39;t decide. The Intercontinental (2 rooms @$150 each), the Marriott Custom House (1 bdrm suite, $266), and the Residence Inn at Boston Harbor (1 bdrm suite, 4 nights using Marriott points, $240 for other 2 nights). The Residence Inn is least expensive because of the free nights and breakfast, but I wonder how difficult it is to get places. The Custom House sounds like the suite will be small and noisy. The Intercontinental will be most expensive. Any opinions?
Need help making hotel decision
The Residence Inn is not Downtown, and for that reason is not in the league of the other two hotels.
The Marriott Custom House is a historic building right in the Downtown Area adjacent to Quincy Market, within view of the Harbor and 5 minutes from the Freedom Trail. It is a beautiful quirky building ';where the action is';. The Intercontinental is a brand new Hotel about a 10 minute walk from the Marriott, so is not too far from everything noted. Its newness makes it more a known entity, but it doesn%26#39;t have the historic significance nor the quirkiness of the Marriott. Which sounds better to you and what%26#39;s it worth to you?

Alanm, Thanks for your comments. I will take the Residence Inn off the list - I think I was trying to make it work because of the Marriott free nights. Of the two others, I think I%26#39;m leaning towards the Intercontinental because it will give us so much more space and more amenities, although a bit pricier. I am a bit concerned about negative reviews about their service, though..
I would choose the Intercontinental over the Custom House. It%26#39;s a brand new hotel and your rate is amazing for a downtown hotel--especially a new one!
As for the Custom House being noisy--it probably is; so is every hotel in the city. You%26#39;ll hear sirens, trucks, drunk people leaving bars, and many other noises. You%26#39;re in the city, these things happen.
