On Thursday nights they have (or at least have had) free music and food (for purchase) festivals in town that you might enjoy a bit.
Food as entertainment: Go to Baxters on Pleasant. It is a floating dock right on the harbor. You%26#39;ll want the more casual side...enter on the right side. There you%26#39;ll order your food (lunch or dinner) at a counter and come back and pick it up. Then your table will be inside or outside on the dock. The kids will enjoy looking into the water at their feet and feeding the fish their leftovers. Even if you just want to purchase a soda here it%26#39;s enough to get you through the door to a harborfront picnic table.
Veterans Beach is good for kids because of the calm, shallow water. It has swings, a bathhouse, a picnic area and grills should you want to %26#39;do it yourself%26#39;. Otherwise there%26#39;s a snack bar. Parking fee is $10 or more.
The Hyannis Mets start playing in mid-June. No tickets/no charge but they usually pass the hat for donations of any amount.

When you drive in you%26#39;ll find the Chamber office at 1481 Rt. 132. It is a mile south or Rt. 6 (the main Cape Highway) and will have lots of info and advice. Call for hours: 508-362-5230 or 800-449-6647.
Check out the websites for Kids on Cape and for Cape Week. And have lot%26#39;s of fun. I%26#39;m sure you will.
