I%26#39;m coming to the Cape end of June and would like to visit the above.Because of time constraints we probably can%26#39;t do both. Does anyone have an opinion on which is the best to visit and why. I know you%26#39;ll all have differing ones lol, but any views would be great. Thanks.
Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket?
Due to the time contraints that you mention and to have more time for fun and not just travel I would suggest that you choose based on where you are staying on the Cape. Or at least give that some consideration. For example if you are staying in Dennisport, Harwichport or Chatham then opt for Nantucket and take www.nantucketislandferry.com for ease of parking (free) and traffic and enjoy compact little Nantucket. If you are staying in Falmouth, Sandwich or Hyannis then the ferries to MV may be the way to go though you CAN get a ferry from Hyannis to Nantucket. Parking in Hyannis adds $10 to $20 per day.
And you might want to post on the Nantucket and MV boards too.
Martha's Vineyard or Nantucket?
It depends on what you are looking for.
Nantucket is a bit more upscale, with one main town and center business district, for restaurants, shops, etc.
Martha%26#39;s Vineyard, has at least 3 town centers %26amp; bus districts.
possibly a bit more family friendly.
Both have great places to stay %26amp; dining ranging from affordable to high end. Great beaches on both islands.
The trip: for Nantucket, leave from Hyannis. For MV, leave from Woods hole. Nantucket will take longer and cost more, though Hi-speed is an option for a premium cost. Don%26#39;t bother even thinking of taking a car, but bicycles might be nice if you just want to get about on your own. Rentals on either island are also available, but can be scarce on peak days. Taxi%26#39;s are usually available and aren%26#39;t unreasonable if you have a particular destination.
Thanks guys, helpful as always. I appreciate it
