NY Family to Cape for the 4th..Hotels and Best Town??

Hi everyone new to the Forums. Well i used to go to the cape when i was young living in Easthampton, MA. and loved it so now i%26#39;m planning a vacation from 7/01 -7/05/07 me my wife and 3 children 3,8,12, ..I was exciting til it came time to book a hotel and started reading the mixed horrid reviews. What area would be the best? I want to make this a great vacation as it is our first as a family, unfortunately as everyone with a family knows a budget comes w/the family I%26#39;m trying to stay in the $125-$175/night range. Something close to the beach, as we%26#39;ll be there mostly for the beach as well as the sightseeing and relaxation but not too much else as far as tours.Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as time is ticking away as vacancies turn to occupied. Thanks a million everyone.

Price may be tight because many places charge for more than two people to the nightly rate . Several people have recommended the Pine knot Motel in a lower price range - Check out web site and then for additional comments about the motel - type in Pine Knot motel in the box at the top that will bring you to the threads mentioning this place - If you have had some ideas of other places post them for addtional . As you notice there can be many mixed reviews but also check out the dates they are written.

Thanks seasailorswim. I actually just booked a suite at The cove in Orleans, Rates were a little more ($840 4/nights) but it seemed as if the 2 bdrm suite with private deck and also community balcony i got was exactly what i was looking for,Lucky for me it was a cancellation. As far as distance to other places we%26#39;ll be driving our own vehicle so i hope i picked a good place. If anyone has stayed at the cove and had any input that would be great to hear of their experience there.

You can%26#39;t go wrong with Orleans. We have been staying there every year for the last 35 years or so. Lots of restaurants, shopping, easy access to Nauset Beach and Skaket ( on the Bay side ). The Cove is right in the town so easy walking distance to most things. You will need to drive to the beaches however. No experience of staying at the Cove because we always rent a house, but it%26#39;s been there ever since we can remember so it must do something right.

Orleans is perfectly located for visiting other parts of the Cape and you should certainly try to see the beaches of the National Seashore. You might also like First Encounter beach, just over the ';border'; in Eastham.

For good seafood try Cook%26#39;s. We also like The Jaihouse and for reasonable prices with a family, The Hearth and Kettle is pretty good although there are mixed reviews about it on this forum.
