Trip Advisor Backpacks anyone?

A couple of months ago I happened to see an e-mail in my junk mail folder from Trip Advisor. Turns out they were giving away free backpacks to their forum post-ers. Never one to say ';no'; to anything free, I filled in the pertinent info and waited for my backpack to arrive...and waited...and waited...and...you get the idea.

On another city%26#39;s post the topic has caused quite a stir, and most everyone that was offered a backpack received one. Have any of our Boston forum post-ers received the same e-mail offer I did? And if so, have you received yours yet?

Trip Advisor Backpacks anyone?

No, I haven%26#39;t seen that email. It must have gotten in my Junk Mail folder and I might have deleted it may be? In any case, keep us posted more about it...I%26#39;m wondering if it was just to the Local Experts may be? I know when I had that status last year I received a T-shirt with Trip Advisor logo on it and a bunch of coupons. In any case, let us know what happens if you hear anything else about it...Thank you Healey04, have a great weekend, it%26#39;s finally here; 3 whole days off together!

I got the offer, accepted the offer, and actually got the ';backpack';. Don%26#39;t bother. It%26#39;s like a nylon baggie. I guess the only way they can call it a ';backpack'; is that the straps are longer. Forgetaboutit.

I received one also. Ditto what Alanm said.

Yup, I got mine maybe two or three weeks ago.

As soon as I quit laughing, I%26#39;ll be glad to send you mine.

My experience with ';Le Backpack:';

THAT%26#39;S what this thing looks like? What a hoot....!!!

Now I can%26#39;t stop laughing!

Just received mine yesterday. Got an earlier email describing a delay because of popularity they had to order more.

I was expecting a package notice from m receiving room. Instead, it came folded in an envelope, which the postman further folded to fit in my mailbox. I almost missed it!

Backpack? More like a cloth drawstring bag, with less material than a t-shirt. ONly the drawstrings also connect to the bottom corners. Don%26#39;t count on carrying books, etc., in it. If used for actual travel, I could possibly roll up a very light weight sweater in it. But my folding umbrella is too long and heavy for it.

If you are handy, cut the strings and fashion a couple of cloth handles to make it into a small cloth shopping bag. But then, if you are that handy sewing, you could make a whole new bag.

I shouldn%26#39;t make fun of it. It was a nice touch. But I can%26#39;t figure why TA went to the expense. Oh, I guess for the advertising ifpeople really carry them.

Yes, I got mine as well a couple of weeks ago with the same ';sorry we had to order more'; message. It%26#39;s one of those drawstring bags that lots of teenagers carry now... it was free though -- I didn%26#39;t expect them to send a huge backpack!

Feeling guilty about my earlier response. It was actually very nice of TripAdvisor to offer the gift at no charge and no obligation. Their web site is great too! I guess it was the surprise of what they were calling a backpack. Maybe if they said nylon carrying sack or something like that, I wouldn%26#39;t have been surprised. Actually, I do appreciate the fact that they made an effort to thank regular contributors.
