Ferry to Martha's Vineyard

The last time we were on CC we went to MV on the ferry. When we got off we had no idea how to rent those golfcarts so we could tour the island. We ended up renting a car for $100 for 6 hours. Can you makereservations ordoyou have to be the first off the ferry and run? We are staying in Chatham in August :) Any info would be great- Lynn

Gosh Lynn, I%26#39;ve never heard of renting golf carts on MV. Suggest you post on the MV forum and maybe you already have done that. Would you let us know what you find out?

We have rented mopeds but that%26#39;s not for everyone.

I was just on Martha%26#39;s Vineyard last week and I did not see any golf carts. Mopeds are very dangerous on MV, so some people choose to rent bikes instead. My husband and I used the public transportation, which was really cheap and easy to use. I would suggest going that route. By the way, you may need to make reservations on the ferry you plan to take. July and August are very busy months on Cape Cod.

I go to MV every year and have never seen a golf cart. You can bring your own bike across on the ferry or rent one when you get there. They have a lot of shuttle busses that only cost a couple of dollars to get from one town to the next. They want you to either buy bus passes for a day or multiple days or pay with exact change each time you get on.

People do bring cars across on the ferries or rent cars (or jeeps)when they get there, but it%26#39;s so economical to get around by bus and so fun to get around by bike.
