I want to take my 15 year old to the cape on the July 5th. Roam around a little town, stay in a fun spot where we can shop and see the sights then take a ferry to Nantucket for the day to see the little village and the next day to Martha%26#39;s vineyard to see that little village. Can this be done by ferry just for the day. We will have a rental car. As well we will be roaming back up the coast as far as Maine so any recommendations go places to eat with a teenager in jeans or shorts would be helpful. We are village by the sea type people. Prefer not to sleep in the same bed. thanks
Boston to the Cape then day trips
It all depends on if you are looking for a commercial area or a quaint town. Falmouth may be a happy medium and the ferry for Martha%26#39;s Vineyard leaves out of Falmouth. I know there is a ferry for Nantucket out of Hyannis, which isn%26#39;t far from Falmouth, but there may be one in Falmouth as well. You will need to check into this.
Also, I would strongly suggest leaving the car behind when going to Martha%26#39;s Vineyard. It is very expensive and the public transportation is very easy to maneuver. Also know that that there a several towns on Martha%26#39;s Vineyard. The most visited are Oak Bluffs, Edgartown, and Vineyard Haven. It will be a long day, but it is ';doable';. You just need to decide what your priorities are.
My husband and I stayed in Sandwich at the Inn at Sandwich Center. We loved it there and it wasn%26#39;t far from Falmouth and the ferry parking lot. If I were going, I would stay there again. Just some food for thought.
