Hi can anyone tell me if the salem diner on loring avenue is within walking distance of salem touritsty stuff (or the train station?) Thanks
Salem diner
It is not close at all to any attractions or the train station. It%26#39;s about a 25 minute walk from anything touristy. If you want a diner type experience near everything, go to Red%26#39;s. Good, cheap, quick food. Just like a diner, but it%26#39;s not.
Salem diner
Thanks for the advice. I was really hoping to go to a dining car with retro insides (1950s etc). I am from the Uk and American Diners are a huge novelty. Would Reds fulfill my %26#39;Grease%26#39; (John Travolta grease not food grease!) dreams?? If there is no where else similar do you know of any in Boston where I shall be staying? Thanks a lot - any advice is appreciated.
I would say it is at least a brisk 45min walk from the train station. You could always take a taxi then take a walk back to the tourist sections. I would walk back via loring to lafayette street which will bring you back to the downtown(tourist area).
If you are taking the train from Boston you could stop off at the Lynn station and try the Capitol Diner which is very close to the station. Hop back on the train to Salem. The owner is one of the city reps. Not sure if he still cooks there but used to all the time.
There%26#39;s a picture of it on this site...

Sorry, I wanted to add that the Capitol Diner closes at 3:00 and is known for its breakfast. I believe it is closed on Sundays.
