Hello Boston Experts,
I%26#39;m planning a surprised trip for husband%26#39;s 40th birthday. We%26#39;ll be staying in Copley Square. Really appreciate any advice on a romantic dining place in the area. He likes steak, but I%26#39;m open to any suggestion. (I kinda like to try New England/Boston favorites).
The dinner will be on June 14.
Romantic Dining Place in Copley Square?
Top of the Hub, at the top of the Prudential Center, doesn%26#39;t offer the best food in the city, but it certainly is romantic and the views spectacular.

If he likes steak, try the Capital Grille, at the very end of Newbury Street

It%26#39;s a nice walk down Newbury Street on the way there. Take a cab back to your hotel; you%26#39;ll be stuffed!
Hi,
For steak and a great atmosphere, Grill 23 in the Back Bay would be a good choice. It%26#39;s more subdued and elegant than some of the other high-end places.
Top of the Hub is a great choice too, as long as you aren%26#39;t expecting to-die-for food. It%26#39;s good, but not great, but the views are amazing and they have dancing too.
In the past, I%26#39;ve had dinner somewhere and visited Top of the Hub after dinner for drinks and dessert. The food is without a doubt not worth the cost - so I think that this would be the best way to get the experience.
Another really nice place for steak dinners is the Oak Room. Its very cozy with a smaller dinning room so it feels a bit more romantic. There is adjoining martini lounge that is a lovely date / after dinner spot and on the weekends usually has a jazz band. I would highly recommend this spot as more of a unique dining experience. And if you are fan of martini%26#39;s... this is definitely a spot to go.
The Oak Room is located in the Plaza hotel right in Copley square.
Grill 23 is very good. Capital Grille is a small chain, so I feel like its not as unique of an experience. However, the steak is quite good.
Top of the Hub is a tradition (or cliche, depending on how you look at it), but it IS special (the prices reflect that), the view great, etc. There are better restaurants in the area but none has the same kind of environment. It%26#39;s a big deal sort of place. If he%26#39;s a super fooie and would prefer better food, then it might not be worth it but if he likes bells and whistles and all that, then he%26#39;ll like it.
Another vote for Grill 23.
Back Bay is the high-end steakhouse capital of the world:
1. Grill 23
2. Oak Room
3. Capital Grille
4. Smith and Wollensky
5. Fleming%26#39;s
6. Morton%26#39;s
7. Abe %26amp; Louie%26#39;s
